The Foundation had an exceptionally productive 2016/2017 school year supporting the students and faculty at Morningside. In total, the foundation allocated $134,749 across investments in technology equipment, curriculum and instructional support, and professional development for faculty and staff at the school. These efforts would not have been possible without the generous support of the many parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and other partners in the Morningside community who contributed $124,164 to the Foundation this year. So thank you on behalf of the entire Foundation Board.
The Foundation’s largest expenditure (44%, or $58,743) was in the area of curriculum and instructional support. This included funding for the new tutoring program in partnership with the EAF as well as such programs as First in Math and National Geographic Society among many others. The second largest expenditure for the Foundation during the year was the continued investment in technology, which consumed 36%, or $48,846 in 2016/2017. In partnership with the PTA, the Foundation was able to procure additional promethean boards for more classrooms at the school. $17,224 was spent on teacher training and development including Orton Gillingham training as well as sponsoring a number of teachers’ attendance at the ASCD annual conference. Foundation administrative expenses were $9,935 which consisted of expenses related to the Fall fundraising event as well as the redesign of the Foundation’s website and donor management system.
